Workshop on Participatory Design of Inclusive Spaces and Child-Friendly Urban Governance in Sanxia–Shulin Beida Community
” This workshop is very useful for me in the future to give insights to the government of my own country “
— Participant’s reflection after our workshop on Participatory Design of Inclusive Spaces and Child-Friendly Urban Governance in Sanxia–Shulin Beida Community
Last Friday, we were honored to invite Christine, a key advocate in Taiwan’s child-friendly urban governance movement and Chairperson of Beyond Playmaking 超越遊戲, to share behind-the-scenes stories of this decade-long advocacy journey and guide us through several inclusive playgrounds in the Sanxia–Shulin area that she helped transform.
Using a 95 cm periscope, participants experienced the playground from the perspective of a 3–4-year-old child.
Suddenly, slides felt steeper, roads seemed wider, and everyday spaces became more challenging—offering a powerful reminder that inclusive design begins with seeing the world through children’s eyes.
