DATE / 2022.08.19 2022 IPUG Research Proposal Competition

< Purpose >

The purpose of this competition is to arouse students' interest in urban governance related issues, to foster in students the ability to utilize their knowledge on research methodology and analysis techniques in developing a feasible research proposal, and thereby encourage academic research and improve the publication ability of students in this degree program.

 

< Competition Rules >

  1. Topics

All urban governance related research topics are allowed, including (but not limited to) flood control, sustainable cities, urban transportation, urban economic development, urban finance, and disaster prevention and relief.

  1. Qualifications

First year student in the International Program on Urban Governance, National Taipei University.

  1. Content of Submissions

It is recommended that submissions contain description of the research problem, review of relevant literature, proposal of a research methodology, expected contribution, and references.

  1. Format and number of words
    • Content must be written in English in 12-point Times New Roman, line spacing of 1.5 lines, and word count between 5,000 and 8,000 words (excluding references, figures, and tables), and the page number must be displayed. Please cite references according to APA Style 7th Edition.
    • Please specify the thesis title, author's name, and contact method on the first page of the paper. Starting on the second page, only provide the thesis title, abstract, and main text, and any content that can be used to identify the author is prohibited.
  2. Acceptance date

From November 14, 2022 to 5:00 P.M. on December 19, 2022.

  1. Submission rules

E-mail the full text in a pdf file to the program mailbox:  ipugmuc@gm.ntpu.edu.tw. Please write 2022 IPUG Research Proposal Competition_Name (e.g., 2022 IPUG Research Proposal Competition_Alex Feeny) for the email subject and attachment filename.

  1. Review method

1-3 committee members from related fields will review the papers submitted within 2 weeks after the deadline, and the list of award winners will be announced on December 26, 2022. The organizer may adjust the time of review and announcement based on the actual situation. The competition may have no winners if the papers submitted do not reach standards.

  1. Awards

1st place: One award and a prize of NT$6,000. 2nd place: Two awards and prizes of NT$4,000.

 

< Announcement of results >

Results of the competition will be announced on the website of the International Program on Urban Governance (http://ipug.ntpu.edu.tw/) on December 26, 2022. The organizer may adjust the time of announcement based on the actual situation.

Subsidies from the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Sprout Project and operating budget of the International Program on Urban Governance, National Taipei University.
